Atchison County, Kansas

Atchison County is located in northeast Kansas. It is named for David Rice Atchison, a Missouri senator.
The seat and largest city are both Atchison. The county is set just outside of the Kansas City metro area.

The county borders Doniphan, Leavenworth, Jefferson, Jackson and Brown Counties in Kansas; as well as Buchanan and Platte Counties in Missouri.
Main highways through the county include US-59, US-73, US-159, K-7 and K-9.
